Robertshaw, also known as Invensys, announced plans to close two manufacturing plants including one in Hanover, Illinois.

The Hanover facility, located in Jo Daviess County, was slated to close in September 2015.  The facility produces water valves for a variety of systems including clothes washing, refrigeration and dishwashing.

“Manufacturing of water valves will be consolidated and transferred to Robertshaw’s Matamoros, Mexico facility,” said a statement from a spokesperson for Robertshaw.

The West Plains, Missouri facility will also close in March 2016.  That facility makes gas valves and related gas products for the cooking and heating markets, and production will be consolidated and moved to Nuevo Laredo, Mexico.

More than 500 people work at the two affected plants.

“Robertshaw will work closely with all impacted employees throughout the transition process,” the company spokesperson said.  “Severance packages and outplacement services will be offered as appropriate.”

Robertshaw has more than 5,400 employees in 12 countries.  The company is headquartered in Carol Stream, Illinois.
