EAST MOLINE, Illinois -- A fire broke out on Campbell's Island Thursday morning, July 14, 2016.
Firefighters responded to a house on Island Avenue, located on the northwest side of the island, shortly before 8 a.m.
WQAD News 8's Jared Ransom at the scene says the home and garage are engulfed in flames. Around 8:45 a.m. smoke was starting to settle, showing the damage.
East Moline's Fire Chief confirmed that one person and one pet was inside the home at the time of the fire; both were able to escape.
About three blocks of Island Avenue were closed off.
