BETTENDORF, Iowa -Construction on the Eagle View Behavioral Health Hospital broke ground Thursday, April 12th.
The 72-bed behavioral health hospital will offer mental health and substance abuse programs for seniors, adults, children and adolescence both locally and statewide.
Iowa Governor Kim Reynolds and Lt. Governor Adam Greg spoke at the event as well as Bettendorf Mayor Bob Gallagher and the Strategic Behavioral Health President and Founder, Jim Shaheen.
The facility will cost about $15 Million dollars, will bring about 200 new jobs, and will hire psychiatrists, psychologists, therapists and nurses to serve people struggling with feelings of depression, anxiety, grief, loss, addiction and personal crisis situations.
SBH has worked for more than two years for the groundbreaking ceremony. It's proposal for Bettendorf was blocked twice by an Iowa health board after local hospitals said the added servcices were not needed.
"We felt important to continue to fight for patients here locally, who can receive those services. It has absolutely been worth it and we are so looking forward to being in the community," says Shaheen.
The 54,586 square foot facility will be one level and will feature 72 beds, five units, two courtyards, two classrooms, an on-site pharmacy, a private ambulance entrance, and on-site outpatient suites.
Construction is set to start in May and be completed next spring.
