The Mississippi Valley Fair and the Bix Jazz Fest are wrapping up on Sunday, August 4, 2013.
For the final act at the fair, country star, Jake Owen will be performing on the Grandstand.
The 42nd annual Bix Jazz Fest saw 15 jazz bands play throughout the weekend. Those performances took place at the RiverCenter, LeClaire Park, and Adler Theatre.
All the festivities were in honor of Davenport’s Bix Beiderbecke, one of the 1920s most influential jazz soloists.
“What he accomplished in 28-years of his life, he was playing with the Paul Whiteman orchestra. The best orchestra in the world at a young age, and people don’t think about it,” said percussionist, Josh Duffy. “These musicians were teenagers and in their early twenties when they brought his music to life.”
There are performances at the RiverCenter on Sunday at 7, 8, and 9 p.m.
