The votes are in and Davenport’s RAGBRAI theme has been chosen.
Winning by a margin of just 13 votes, “Davenport: Where the Road Meets the River” won out over “Dip ‘Em in Davenport” and “Pedal to the Party.”
There were just over 1,000 votes that came in from 32 states and three different countries. The winning theme received 386 votes, according to a spokesperson from the City of Davenport.
Bicyclists will be riding into Davenport on Saturday, July 25, 2015 to dip their tires into the Mississippi River after completing more than 462 miles across the state of Iowa. The last time RAGBRAI rode through Davenport was in 2011, where the theme was Destination Davenport. The Quad City’s roots with RAGBRAI date all the way back to 1973, when it was the end point of the very first RAGBRAI route.
The theme will appear on promotional materials, signs, web, and t-shirts and is used to separate Davenport from the rest of the hosting cities on the route.
