CARBON CLIFF, Illinois — A crash involving three vehicles on Highway 5 temporarily closed down northbound traffic near Barstow Road.
The crash happened Wednesday, October 10, just before 8 a.m. and involved a semi and two other vehicles. Northbound traffic was stopped for nearly an hour. Southbound traffic was moving slowly.
An officer on scene said weather was the primary factor, not speed. A series of slow-moving storms in the area has created wide-spread flash flood and flood warnings.
According to a spokesperson with the Rock Island County Sheriff’s Department, one northbound vehicle hydroplaned, leading to the crash.
There were no citations issued and no serious injuries to report.
