Ten years later, friends and family came together to remember 16-year-old Adrianne Reynolds, who was murdered by two classmates.

A candlelight vigil was held Wednesday, January 21, 2015 in East Moline. Family members recalled the day she died.

“I just remember the police saying the words how they found Adrianne, and I went into denial, and I told myself this really isn’t happening. They were not telling me the truth,” said Adrianne’s stepmother Joanna Reynolds. “It is important that people remember Adrianne, and remember why she died and to know that it’s here and that we all need to be more aware that it is here in the Quad Cities.”

Sara Kolb and Cory Gregory were convicted of beating and strangling Adrianne to death.

The two also got the help of 16-year-old Nate Gaudet, who used his grandfather’s saw to dismember her body in an attempt to cover up the crime.

Gaudet’s family was also at the vigil Wednesday. Gaudet was killed in a car crash in 2012.
