The BaconFest is returning to Monmouth, Ill. on Friday, August 12 running from 5 p.m. until 10 p.m. on the public square.
The food vendors are going to be cooking up some unique bacon dishes to sample from bacon-wrapped chicken wings to bacon salsa to bacon s’mores. Smithfield Food is providing all of the bacon for food vendors.
There will be competitions, children’s activities, live music, and a beer tent.
“Smithfield is proud to sponsor the 2nd annual BaconFest and is equally as proud to be a part of the Monmouth community,” said Smithfield’s HR manager Michelle Reyburn.
Paul Schuytema, Director of Community and Economic Development for the City of Monmouth says he is very optimistic for this years event.
“Last year’s event blew the doors off our expectations,” Said Paul. “This year, Smithfield and the business council will be ready. The goal is to create a lasting and fun family festival that celebrates an anchor business in our community, and BaconFest does just that. With Cruise Night on August 5th and BaconFest on August 12th, downtown Monmouth is the place to be on Friday nights in early August.”
Bacon dishes will be worth one to two tickets. Tickets cost $3 and can be purchased at the event, or you can buy a ticket book with seven tickets for $20 before the event at these locations. the Chamber of Commerce, City Hall, Sunny 97.7, Midwest Bank, County Market, Market Alley Wines and County Financial 207 N.
