ROCK ISLAND, Illinois-- The city's own Amazing Race Challenge put 17 teams to the test today. The goal was to finish an obstacle course that challenged both the mind and body.
The race started in Schweibert Park, where teams built marshmallow catapults and then raced to take selfies by the Mississippi River. Teams then rushed of to search for clues to the next challenge.
This year the Rock Island Parks and Recreation presented the event with Rock Island Happy Joe's. This is the second year for the city's Amazing Race Challenge, every obstacle featured during the event was new. Carrie Roelf from the Rock Island Park and Recreation says they hope to keep it that way every year moving forward.
"Last year we had pickle ball so they got to try that and this year we have a few surprises planned things that we know they've never tried before and just to experience Rock Island maybe in a way they haven't before," she says.
The event saw a bigger turn out from last year, 12 teams competed.
