STERLING, Illinois -- An abandoned building that sits along the Rock River caught fire overnight.
The fire happened at the intersection of 2nd Street and 3rd Avenue. By around 5 a.m. crews were no longer on scene and the fire was under control, though smoke was still visible.
Witnesses say the fire started around 12:30 a.m. and there was nobody inside when the fire took off.
The building was reportedly set for demolition.
