A wrestling match between twin boys in Davenport ended in a viral video moment, to which any parent can relate.
Seven-year-old twins Thomas and Joe Schlichting couldn't be any more opposite. Thomas likes to dance and Joe likes sports.
They'll even tell you they rarely get along. "Um kind of," said Thomas.
While they have fun wrestling around at home, on the actual mat they can be pretty competitive; that was especially true this past weekend. The boys got to wrestle each other for the first time at a tournament.
"I kept envisioning this brotherly love at the end, no matter who won or lost they would like give each other a nice big hug, like raise each other's hands. That's what I thought would happen," said dad, Chris.
It was a close match, but Thomas came out the winner. Video captured the Joe punching Thomas.
"Joe was not having it, and he noticed he had a clean shot with the hand raised and he took advantage of it," said Chris.
They put the video on Facebook to share with family. From there, it's gone viral
"My phone has not stopped buzzing, because I think people can relate to it especially people with siblings," said Chris.
Thomas and Joe were able to put the incident aside.
"It was nothing happened like maybe five minutes later they shared some nachos and a Gatorade," said Chris.
Their mom Emily says it was a good lesson in sportsmanship.
"I hope people see the humor in it, and that we don't condone hitting or bad sportsmanship; and we obviously talked to them afterwards," she said.
Chris and Emily say they don't know if they'll both participate in wrestling next year, but if they do, they don't see a rematch anytime in the future.
