Driver crashes into rural Galena home injuring 4, sheriff's office says

The driver, along with three of the home's occupants, were sent to the hospital with injuries after the Thursday night crash.

GALENA, Ill. — Multiple people were sent to the hospital after a driver crashed into a rural Galena residence Thursday night, according to the Jo Daviess County Sheriff's Office. 

Just after 7 p.m. on Sept. 26, sheriff's deputies responded to the 9000 block of U.S. Route 20 W. in rural Galena for a single-vehicle accident. According to the sheriff's office, a 2024 silver Hyundai Palisade was traveling east on Route 20 when the driver, a 45-year-old Galena man, crossed the center line, went over the curb and crashed into a residence with multiple people inside.

The driver was transported to a local hospital before being airlifted to Rockford for medical treatment. Two people in the home, a 32-year-old woman and a male juvenile, were transported by ambulance to a local hospital and the third resident, a 35-year-old man, drove themself to the hospital for treatment. 

The crash remains under investigation by the Jo Daviess County Sheriff's Office.
