3 killed in Louisa County crash Monday afternoon, Iowa State Patrol says

The names of the people involved won't be released until the families are notified.

LOUISA COUNTY, Iowa — Three people are dead and two injured following a Monday afternoon crash near Grandview, according to a crash report from the Iowa State Patrol.

The two-vehicle crash involved a 2006 Toyota Rav4 and a 2011 Chevy Silverado, with five occupants total. The names of the people involved won't be released until the families are notified.

The investigation found that the Rav4 was traveling eastbound on Highway 92 at around 12:30 p.m. when it attempted to pass a semi. The Silverado was heading westbound when the Rav4 struck it head-on.

According to the crash report, both of the injured occupants were transported to the University of Iowa for treatment. One traveled by ambulance and the other by Iowa City Aircare. Their conditions are unknown at this time. 

The accident remains under investigation by the Iowa State Patrol. Assisting agencies include Grandview Fire Department, Iowa City Aircare, Louisa Ambulance Service and the Iowa Department of Transportation.
