Davenport police arrest armed man after 6-hour negotiations

Multiple officers were seen with guns pointed at 344 W. Garfield Street.

DAVENPORT, Iowa — Update: After six-hours of negotiations an armed man who broke into a Davenport home Thursday has been arrested, according to a press release from Davenport Police Department.

Alan Buresh, 59, was taken into custody following a heavy police and SWAT presence at 344 W. Garfield Street, which police say began at 11:40 a.m.

Buresh forced his way inside the home of someone he knew, firing a shot and causing property damage. The resident was able to exit unharmed.

According to the report, Buresh exited the home peacefully. He's been charged with burglary in the first degree, interference and reckless use of a firearm, property damage and use of a dangerous weapon in a crime.

Police are still investigating the incident.

Multiple officers were spotted with guns pointed at the house when News 8 was at the scene. Around 3 p.m. one witness told News 8 police were at that location for multiple hours.
