3 people charged with second-degree murder in connection to 2015 Davenport assault

Three people have been charged with second-degree murder in connection to a 2015 assault at a Davenport strip club.

DAVENPORT, Iowa — Three people have been charged with second-degree murder in connection to a 2015 assault at a Davenport strip club.

According to Davenport police, the charges stem from the alleged assault that took place on Thursday, Oct. 15, 2015, at the Chorus Line Strip Club, previously located at 4128 North Brady Street. Responding officers found Joshua Sutton Sr. at the scene suffering from head injuries.

Sutton was transported to a regional hospital for emergency treatment. Police said Sutton remained in a vegetative state requiring long-term care until he died on April 7, 2024.

Following Sutton's death, Davenport police have issued warrants for Kamden Shelton, Juan Shelton and Trenton Shelton, all charged with second-degree murder. In 2015, the three were charged with willful injury causing serious injury concerning the incident.

Kamden was arrested on the second-degree murder charge on Wednesday, Oct. 9, 2024. Officials said Juan and Trenton were already in custody on unrelated charges.

The incident remains under investigation.
