Davenport Fire Department investigating Monday night house fire

The home sustained heavy damage both inside and outside. Two adults and two children were able to safely evacuate the fire.

DAVENPORT, Iowa — The Davenport Fire Department (DFD) is investigating the cause of a Monday night house fire, according to a DFD news release.

The fire occurred around 6:21 p.m. in the 2200 block of W. 4th St. A passerby reported the fire, saying they could see flames on the second floor and roof of the house. The home's exterior was most affected, with the blaze also reaching the interior. Crews had the fire under control in approximately 30 minutes.

Fire damage was extensive to the exterior of the home while the interior suffered heavy smoke, water and fire damage.

Two adults and two children had already evacuated when fire crews arrived. The Red Cross was on the scene to provide support to the occupants.

The fire's cause is being investigated.
