DAVENPORT, Iowa — The Davenport Police Department has released a statement debunking social media rumors alleging child trafficking.

This past weekend, the Davenport Police Association held its 22nd Annual Toy Drive, where they collected new toys and money to help children and families served by Family Resources.

Photos and videos circulating on social media show a Coca-Cola truck and DPD officers, claiming the truck was involved with trafficking or endangering children.

In DPD's statement, they said these photos and videos are from their toy drive, and that the claims of child trafficking are untrue.

"We would like to take this opportunity to kindly ask that before sharing something online, take a moment to verify the information, as this can help prevent the spread of unnecessary fear and misinformation," the Facebook statement reads.
