DAVENPORT, Iowa — City of Davenport Interim City Administrator Mallory Merritt has announced her resignation, effective Aug. 16.
Merritt confirmed her resignation in the following statement to News 8 on Thursday, July 11:
"I notified the Mayor and Council this morning of the resignation and requested an effective date of August 16th. I’ll defer to the Mayor for any other commentary on behalf of the City. I can personally confirm that I have accepted a position at Russell Group and will defer to their leadership for any questions regarding their company or the position."
Davenport Mayor Mike Matson praised Merritt for her work with the city in a statement to News 8.
"She is a totally excellent administrator. She will be missed. Top of the line person and leader. She deeply cared about this city. I wish her the best," Matson said.
The City announced in November that Merritt had been named interim city administrator, following the departure of former City Administrator Corri Spiegel.
Merritt previously served as the Assistant City Administrator and Chief Financial Officer since June 2020.
Earlier this year, the Davenport City Council approved a pay increase for Merritt. Under the agreement, Merritt was forbidden from applying for the full-time position.
The City approved $70,000 to conduct a search for a new city administrator back in April.
