2 suspects arrested in connection to weekend Davenport homicide

19-year-old Johnathan Terrones of East Moline has been charged with first-degree murder. Another suspect has been charged with accessory and obstruction.

DAVENPORT, Iowa — Update Thursday, Aug. 29: A second suspect has been arrested in connection to an early morning homicide on Aug. 24 in Davenport. 

18-year-old James R Joslin Jr. of Silvis was arrested on Thursday, Aug. 29 in connection. He was charged with accessory after the fact and obstructing prosecution or defense. No other information was provided by police.

19-year-old Johnathan Terrones of East Moline has been charged with first-degree murder in the death of 23-year-old Mason Payne, according to the Davenport Police Department.

Davenport Police, Fire, and Medic EMS responded to the parking lot in the 100 block of W. River Drive around 12:24 a.m. on Saturday, Aug. 24 for a call of "shots fired with a victim." The location is near the Davenport Skybridge.

When officers arrived, they found Payne with apparent gunshot wounds, and he had already succumbed to his injuries.
