DAVENPORT, Iowa — Editor's Note: The featured video was published on Nov. 22.

The Davenport City Council may consider the ratification of settlement agreements with departing City Administrator Corri Spiegel and two former city employees during a Wednesday council meeting.

The council may also consider the ratification of settlement agreements with former city employees Tiffany Thorndike and Samantha Torres.

According to Wednesday's agenda, the council will hold a closed session "to discuss strategy with counsel in matters involving litigation."

After the closed session, the agenda states that the council could reconvene to consider the ratification of settlement agreements for the aforementioned employees.

In a Nov. 22 news release from the City of Davenport containing Spiegel's separation agreement, it was announced that the city would be paying Spiegel a lump sum payment totaling $1.6 million for "emotional pain and suffering." The separation agreement was signed on Oct. 6. The full agreement can be found below.

Along with the separation agreement, the city also released a statement alluding to allegations made against former Seventh Ward Alderman Derek Cornette and "other unnamed former elected officials," calling their actions "inappropriate, wrong and appalling." According to the statement, Spiegel is receiving the payment due to these behaviors mentioned.

Cornette was ousted from his city council seat in a 7-3 September vote concerning the allegations. On Wednesday, Dec. 6, a judge ruled that the city council violated Cornette's due process rights during his removal. Cornette said he's ready to return to his council post but cannot due to the city filing an appeal with the Iowa Supreme Court.
