DAVENPORT, Iowa — A longtime staff member of the City of Davenport is leaving her post.
City Administrator Corri Spiegel will be leaving her role, which city officials announced in a press release. Spiegel became the interim city administrator in June 2015 before being officially promoted to the full-time position in July 2016. She previously served as the city's economic development director in Centennial, Colorado.
During her time in the position, city officials credited her with starting the Davenport Strengths Institute, creating the revitalization plan for Davenport City Centre and implementing nearly $41 million worth of funding from the American Rescue Plan Act.
"Her leadership, dedication, and numerous accomplishments have left an indelible mark on our community. As we move forward, the City of Davenport expresses its gratitude for her outstanding service and is confident she will enjoy continued success in her future endeavors," officials wrote in a press release.
Spiegel's last day in office will be Jan. 2, 2024.
In a separate release sent by the City on Friday, Nov. 17, Mallory Merritt has been named Interim City Administrator effective Friday. Merritt has served as the City's Assistant City Administrator and Chief Financial Officer since June 2020.
As the Interim Davenport City Administrator, Merritt will be responsible for managing and directing City operations and services to meet Council goals and objectives.
“Her knowledge of the City of Davenport’s operations and the community as a whole offer the continuity we need, and I’m confident she’ll serve as Interim effectively and continue the City’s great work with our partners,” Davenport Mayor Mike Matson said.
In early 2024, the City will select an executive recruitment firm to conduct a national search for the permanent position, a process that is expected to take approximately six months.
