If you’re ready to ditch the winter coat and think spring, Dairy Queen can help you follow your dreams.

On Tuesday, March 15, 2016, Dairy Queen was giving away small vanilla soft-serve cones for FREE (one per customer), declaring winter over five days early, according to a statement from the company. Non-mall Dairy Queens were participating in Free Cone Day all across the country.

“We want everyone to celebrate our official kick-off of spring by enjoying a signature DQ cone on us,” said Barry Westrum, executive vice president of Marketing for Dairy Queen.

The ice cream chain was accepting donations for Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals in exchange for the free cones.  In 2015, Westrum said they raised $140,000 for Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals on Free Cone Day.
