Cuddlers needed: King's Harvest puts out call for animal cuddlers on July 3

The shelter is asking for people to give comfort to their cats and dogs through cuddling on a night when loud fireworks will be going off.

DAVENPORT, Iowa — A Davenport animal shelter is looking for volunteers to cuddle their animals while fireworks displays are going off the night of July 3.

King's Harvest Pet Rescue is hosting a 'Cuddle and Comfort' event on Wednesday, July 3, from 9 to 10:30 p.m. The shelter is located at 2504 W Central Park Ave. A in Davenport.

The assistant director of the rescue said in a release that they host this event "to get the word out that some pets are very afraid of fireworks. More pets get lost around this time of year than any other time."

Donations are being asked for upon entry and the rescue requests clumping cat litter, Nylabones, kitten wet food, and paper towels.
