Northbound lanes of Illinois Route 92 were closed for nearly four hours after a crash near the bridge over the Rock River in Rock Island, Illinois.
The wreck involved a passenger car and a tractor-trailer in northbound right lane of Route 92 at about 31st Avenue, at about 8:15 a.m. Wednesday, August 19, 2015. Photos showed a significant portion of the car under the rear of a trailer.
A Medforce helicopter ambulance responded to the crash. It took about a half-hour for emergency responders to extricate one person trapped as a result of the crash. Police at the scene confirmed the woman who drove the passenger car was airlifted to a local hospital.
Police indicated northbound lanes of Route 92 would be closed for an extended period of time. Traffic was being detoured to use Interstate 280 to avoid Route 92.
All northbound lanes were reopened just before noon according to a Facebook post from the Rock Island Police Department.
