Collinsville man among 3 killed in head-on crash in Scheller, Illinois

SCHELLER, Ill. — Three people, including a Collinsville, Illinois, man, were killed in a two-vehicle head-on collision over the weekend in Scheller, Illinois. 

Just before noon on Saturday, the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office said it received a report regarding a two-vehicle head-on collision near the intersection of East DuBois Road and North Pulsar Lane.

According to preliminary reports, a 2017 Buick crossed the centerline and struck a 2023 Chevrolet head-on. The driver and passenger of the Buick became trapped inside the vehicle and were pronounced dead at the scene. 

The Jefferson County coroner identified the driver and passenger of the Buick as Bryce Middleton, of DuBois, and Hayden Lence, of Herrin. Both were 20 years old.

The driver of the Chevrolet was also pronounced dead at the scene. He was identified as 37-year-old Joshua Chapman, of Collinsville. A passenger in the Chevrolet was taken to a St. Louis-area hospital in an unknown condition, the sheriff's office said.
