LONG GROVE, Iowa — A new shooting range is now open in Scott County.
The Cody Shooting Complex opened its doors to shooters in and around Long Grove, Iowa. The DNR-owned facility is located at 30245 220th Ave. and offers a 30-yard handgun range and a 100-yard rifle and shotgun range. It's run by Scott County Conservation.
It costs $14 for one person to spend an hour at the range, or $20 for couples or families.
"We can offer a lot of things that those private rangers can't because most of them aren't staffed as far as making sure our brass is picked up, making sure the facility is clean, grass is mowed. All of our steel targets are replaced when they're broken. And those are all things that we provide here being a paid facility," Complex Coordinator Gavin Tigges said.
An archery range, administration building and a 50-person classroom are all part of the facility's planned phase two construction. Those additions are scheduled to begin construction in 2025.
The range is open from Wednesdays to Sundays. You can find the exact hours of operation here.
