Clinton woman arrested in connection to February drug-related death

The 20-year-old woman is accused of selling drugs that led to the death of a 19-year-old man, arrest records show.

CLINTON, Iowa — A Clinton woman has been arrested in connection to a February drug-related death, police say.

Back on Feb. 27, a call came into the Carroll County Illinois 911 Center of an unresponsive person in Thomson, according to an arrest affidavit. The victim, who has been identified as 19-year-old Keaton Olson, was transported to a Clinton hospital where he later died just before midnight. The Clinton Police Department launched an investigation the following day.

According to the affidavit, investigators looked through Olson's messages and found several between him and 20-year-old Camren R. Cady. The messages indicated that Cady allegedly sold controlled substances to Olson on Feb. 27. Police said the delivery was made hours before Olson was found unresponsive. Investigators spoke with Olson's father who said he had driven Olson to Clinton to meet with someone, which police later determined was Cady.

Police seized pills found at Olson's residence that later tested positive for fentanyl, the affidavit said. An autopsy found that Olson's cause of death was acute mixed drug intoxication of cocaine and fentanyl.

Cady was arrested on Sept. 18 without incident, police said. She has been charged with delivery of fentanyl less than five grams, a class C felony.
