CLINTON, Iowa — Editor's Note: A previous version of this story named the fellow firefighter who was injured as Aiden Cain. This was a mistake as his name is Adam Cain. The inaccuracy has been corrected.
The City of Clinton is cementing the legacy of a fallen first responder.
On Tuesday, Dec. 12, the Clinton City Council voted to approve a resolution honoring firefighter Eric Hosette by naming the portion of Third Avenue South between South Fourth Street and South Third Street after him. The street is located between Central Fire Station and Clinton Park.
Hosette was killed while responding to a grain silo fire at Clinton's ADM plant on Jan. 5, 2019. Crews were battling the fire 88 feet off the ground when an explosion occurred, killing Hosette and injuring fellow firefighter Adam Cain.
In Oct. 2019, fellow firefighters named the Clinton Fire Department's newest ladder truck Ladder Truck 190, a tribute to Hosette's badge number.
Hosette had served the Clinton Fire Department since 2006.
