Two 76-seat American Airlines jets set off for Charlotte on Wednesday, the first-ever flight of the airport's newest regular passenger destination.

MOLINE, Ill. — The first direct flight to Charlotte, North Carolina, took off from the Quad Cities International Airport Wednesday night.

Two 76-seat CRJ-900 American Airlines jets now depart Moline for Charlotte daily. Each flight is about two and a half hours. The Charlotte flight gives Quad Citizens easier year-round access to the East Coast, with the previous easternmost year-round destination being Atlanta.

Morning flights depart at 6:50 a.m. CT and arrive at Charlotte Douglas International Airport around 10 a.m. ET. Afternoon flights leave at 4:30 p.m. CT and arrive roughly at 7:40 p.m. ET.

Charlotte Douglas International Airport offers service to over 178 domestic and international locations. The airport has eight major carriers, 15 regional carriers and three foreign ones.
