SCOTT COUNTY, Iowa — A Davenport man was killed in a car crash over the weekend, according to the sheriff's office.

Around 2:15 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 5, the Scott Emergency Communications Center received a call about a two-vehicle accident near the intersection of 210th Street and Jersey Ridge Road, which is located less than three miles west of the Davenport Municipal Aiport.

The Scott County Sheriff's Office said an initial investigation found two vehicles were traveling along 210th Street, with a 2018 Chevy Silverado heading east and a 2019 Honda CRV heading west. When the two vehicles approached the intersection, the Honda driver went to make a left-hand turn but entered the eastbound lane just before the intersection. The two vehicles hit eachother in an "offset head-on collision," the sheriff's office said.

The driver of the Honda, who has been identified by officials as William Ashton of Davenport, was extricated from the vehicle and transported to a local hospital. He was the flown to a Peoria hospital where he later died, officials said. The Silverado driver had minor injuries and was treated at the scene. The sheriff's office said both drivers were wearing their seatbelts.
