SCOTT COUNTY, Iowa — Update: As of March 14, both burn bans have been lifted for the counties.
Update: As of 11 a.m. on Wednesday, March 6, the burn ban in Scott County has been lifted. The ban in Clinton County is still in effect.
Residents of Scott County and Clinton County are under burn bans.
The bans went into effect at 9 a.m. on Monday, Feb. 26 and will remain active until further notice. Fire officials cited concerns about dry weather, low humidity, dried vegetation and the National Weather Service's Red Flag Warning as the rationale for the ban.
According to a message from Iowa State Fire Marshal Dan Wood, any violation of the burn ban is a simple misdemeanor.
