BURLINGTON, Iowa — The Burlington Fire Department responded to two separate fires at the same location within hours of each call, according to a press release sent out Monday.

Around 5 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 16, firefighters received a call about a house fire at 217 Barret St. in Burlington. Upon arrival, responders found flames coming from a second-story window. The home's owner, Trenton Furnald, was not home at the time and his dog was rescued from the residence.

Later in the night, around 2 a.m. on Friday, Nov. 17, firefighters received another call for a fire at the same residence. The release says flames were coming out of a second-story window but it's unclear whether it was the same fire that had rekindled. No occupants were home at the time of the second blaze.

Damages are still being assessed and there are no reported injuries. The cause of the fires is still under investigation. More information will be made available by the Burlington Fire Marshal.

The Burlington Fire Department was assisted by the West Burlington Fire Department, the Burlington Police Department, and Alliant Energy and Gas.
