BURLINGTON, Iowa — A man is dead after being hit by a garbage truck Thursday morning in Burlington.
An Iowa State Patrol crash report says the garbage truck was backing up on Isabella Avenue when the pedestrian, who is hearing-impaired, went to cross the street and was fatally hit. The report identifies 49-year-old Brian Whittaker of Burlington as the victim in the crash. The crash happened around 10:08 a.m. near the 2000 block of Isabella Avenue.
The incident is under investigation.
