Scott County man takes home $50,000 lottery prize

BUFFALO, Iowa — A Buffalo, Iowa man won $50,000 after taking home the top prize in a scratch-off lottery ticket.

According to officials with the Iowa Lottery, Dale Miller purchased his winning "$50,000 Super Crossword" ticket from the Express Lane Gas & Food Mart in Buffalo.

Miller picked up his winnings on Friday, July 26 from the Iowa Lottery's office in Cedar Rapids.

According to lottery officials, players have won more than $5.8 billion worth of prizes since the lottery was started in the Hawkeye State in 1985. Additionally, the games have raised more than $2.4 billion to benefit state programs such as the Iowa Veterans Trust Fund.
