ROCK FALLS, Ill. — On Tuesday, Jan. 16, an early-morning fire broke out at Moore Tires, located at 2411 E. Rock Falls Road in Rock Falls, Illinois.
According to the fire department, firefighters were dispatched to the scene shortly before 4:30 a.m. after receiving word of the fire. When they arrived, heavy smoke and flames were visible from the building's roof, and the fire eventually spread to the entire building.
The building's west and south exterior walls partially collapsed from the damage before the blaze was extinguished. Investigators believe approximately 90% of the structure sustained fire damage, and they are still looking into what caused the fire in the first place.
Firefighters from Dixon, Prophetstown, Morrison, Fulton, Polo and Tampico helped extinguish the fire.
Moore Tires, a family-owned business, has been operating since 1991 off of Illinois Route 30. According to the Rock Falls Fire Department, the Red Cross is helping the displaced occupants.
