MOLINE, Ill. — Part of Avenue of the Cities in Moline was closed after a crash killed a motorcycle driver near 46th Street Tuesday afternoon, March 15.
According to a news release from the Moline Police Department, at noon on March 15, officers responded to the 4600 block of Avenue of the Cities after a crash was reported.
Investigation found that a motorcycle was travelling west on the Avenue when it collided with a pickup truck pulling a trailer that was travelling east near 46th Street.
The motorcycle ejected its 33-year-old male rider from East Moline, skidded onto the concrete ground, and burst into flame.
After Moline first responders arrived at the scene, the man was rushed to the hospital, but was later pronounced dead.
MPD says that its Traffic Unit is conducting a more complex investigation, involving evidence from the scene and a traffic crash reconstruction being done by an expert.
No arrests or citations have been made. The cause of the crash has not been determined. The victim's name will be released at a later time.
