QC Balloon Festival takes off this weekend

The event will have live music, food vendors and plenty of high-flying fun.

DAVENPORT, Iowa — A beloved Quad Cities tradition is back and ready to take flight for another year.

The QC Balloon Festival will take place on Friday, Aug. 9 and Saturday, Aug. 10 at Rhythm City Casino Resort in Davenport. According to the event's website, more than a dozen hot air balloon pilots will be on hand for all the fun.

Admission to the event is completely free, but attendees are encouraged to make a donation to the QC Veterans Outreach Center.

Friday, Aug. 9

  • 4 p.m. - Gates open to the public
  • 4-9 p.m. - Food vendors
  • 4-9 p.m. - Bounce houses open for kids
  • 5-8 p.m. - CraZy Ex Band performs
  • 6 p.m. - Balloon launches, tethered rides begin
  • 7:45-8:45 p.m. - Balloon glow

Saturday, Aug. 10

  • 3 p.m. - Gates open to the public
  • 3-9 p.m. - Food vendors
  • 3-8 p.m. - Funktastic 5 Band performs
  • 3-9 p.m. - Bounce houses open for kids
  • 2-5:30 p.m. - Car show on the launch field
  • 6 p.m. - Balloon launches, tethered rides begin
  • 7:45-8:45 p.m. - Balloon glow
