MOLINE, Ill. — Nearly a year after The Mockingbird on Main lost its home in the Davenport building collapse, the theatre is back with a performance of a timeless classic.
The theatre is putting on a performance of "To Kill a Mockingbird," adapted from the famed novel of the same name by Harper Lee. The story explores life and prejudice in the deep South during the Great Depression when a small-town lawyer defends a young Black man accused of a horrific crime.
Mockingbird founders Tristan Layne Tapscott and Savannah Bay Strandin, a husband and wife duo, directed the production. Due to the loss of their own space, Mockingbird will host the play at the Black Box Theatre in Moline.
Performances will be held at 8 p.m. on May 16, 17, 18, 23, 24 and 25 and at 2 p.m. on May 19 and 26. All tickets cost $16 and can be purchased in advance here.
