17-year-old charged with arson after vacant building fire in Burlington

No one was injured in the blaze.

BURLINGTON, Iowa — A 17-year-old has been charged with arson following a vacant building fire in Burlington.

According to the Burlington Fire Department, firefighters responded to reports of a fire on the 1400 block of Division Street just after 1 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 15. Firefighters determined the building was vacant and were able to successfully extinguish the fire. No one was injured from the fire.

Later that day, shortly before 6 p.m., Burlington police were able to locate a 17-year-old female suspect in the case. She was arrested and charged with second-degree arson.
