COAL VALLEY, Ill — Arrowhead Ranch will be closing its residential programming, officials with the nonprofit announced.
In a press release sent on Thursday, March 26, officials said that residential programming at Arrowhead Youth & Family Services will end effective Tuesday, April 23.
The facility first opened in 1945.
According to the release, Arrowhead officials made the decision due to "insurmountable financial challenges." More specifically, officials said the passage of Illinois' Family First Prevention Services Act brought changes that "significantly impacted the funding landscape for organizations like ours."
In addition to funding issues, the press release says that while the facility was intended to help low and moderate-risk youth, an increase in higher-risk cases brought to their facility due to the Family First Prevention Services Act stretched Arrowhead's resources beyond capacity.
Arrowhead officials said the agency's Day Reporting Center program will continue to operate.
