WATERLOO, Iowa — Waterloo police officers are looking into the source of human remains found in the city's waste treatment plant.
Shortly after noon on Monday, March 4, officers responded to reports of human remains found inside the Waterloo Waste Treatment Plant, according to a Waterloo Police Department news release.
The remains were collected to be brought to the Iowa State Medical Examiner's office in Ankeny, where the person the remains belonged to will be identified. The examiner will work to confirm the person's cause of death, as well.
The investigation in the source of the remains is ongoing. Anyone with any information is asked to contact the Waterloo Police Detective Division at 319-291-4340, extension #3 or Cedar Valley Crime Stoppers at 855-300-TIPS.
