Princeton man arrested for December UTV accident that injured several teenagers

The man faces charges of child endangerment, drunk driving and more after he lost control of a UTV and crashed into a fence, injuring the teenage passengers.

PRINCETON, Iowa — The driver of the UTV has been arrested on numerous charges, according to a press release from the Scott County Sheriff's Office.

The driver, now identified as 54-year-old Curt Bell of Princeton, has been arrested on charges of operating while intoxicated, reckless driving, neglect of a child dependent, child endangerment causing bodily injury, and four counts of serious injury by motor vehicle.

Bell and the teenage passengers remain in stable condition.

The accident remains under investigation by the Scott County Sheriff's Office Accident Investigation Team

Six people have been injured in a UTV accident that happened Thursday night in Princeton.

The Scott County Sheriff's Office Accident Investigation Team responded to the area of the 16500 block of 257th Street in Princeton, Iowa, for a report of a single-vehicle accident.

The investigation found that the UTV was driving eastbound in a cornfield on the south side of 257th Street. Authorities say the UTV lost control and drove into a fence before rolling into a ditch. 

The UTV was driven by a 54-year-old Princeton man. There were five passengers ranging from ages 11 to 19 years old in the UTV.

Two passengers were transported to Iowa City by helicopter to be treated. The driver and three other passengers were transported to a local hospital to be treated. 

All six people are in stable condition at this time.
