CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa — Two recent Bettendorf High School graduates have been named victims in a crash that killed four in Cedar Rapids on Friday, according to information released by the Cedar Rapids Police on Tuesday.
Casey Krager, 18, of Davenport, and Carter Cooper, 18, of Bettendorf, died in the crash. Both were graduates of Bettendorf High School in the spring of 2023.
Also killed in the crash were Ruth Tekeste, 52, of Cedar Rapids, and her 13-year-old son, Bruk Mehari, an eighth-grader at Prairie Point Middle School.
The crash happened around 9:56 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 1 at C St SW near Edison Road.
Cedar Rapids police and fire personnel were called to the scene for a report of an accident with trapped occupants and one car ablaze. Upon arrival, authorities began medical evaluations while firefighters worked to extinguish the fire.
