CLINTON COUNTY, Iowa — Three children are dead following a Monday morning crash in Clinton County.
According to an Iowa State Patrol crash report, a 1999 Jeep Grand Cherokee was stopped for some unknown reason in the outside lane of Highway 30, around the 3700 block. A 2023 Dodge 4500 flatbed truck towing a trailer was driving eastbound and rear-ended the Jeep, which was sent into the south ditch. The Jeep came to a rest on the south shoulder.
Three children, each younger than five years old, were killed in the crash. Clinton County officials said two adults and another child were also injured. All six were occupants in the Jeep. The truck driver was transported to a local hospital for treatment. The names of the children have not been released and the crash is still under investigation.
A GoFundMe has been set up to support the family impacted by the crash. It was sent to News 8 by officials with the fundraising site and is legitimate. If you would like to donate, you can find the GoFundMe page by clicking here.
The eastbound lanes of Highway 30 were closed for over four hours, Clinton County officials said. The SUV occupants were not using seatbelts at the time of the crash, per ISP's report.
