DAVENPORT, Iowa — Two people have been arrested and charged with arson following a Friday morning house fire in Davenport.

According to the Davenport Fire Department, officials responded to a structure fire in the 1100 block of Brown Street just after 10 a.m. Crews took around 15 minutes to extinguish the fire. Nobody was inside inside the house at the time. Firefighters remained on the scene for several hours to extinguish spot fires and to investigate the cause. The home sustained moderate smoke and fire damage.

During the course of the investigation, the Davenport Fire Department determined that the fire was deliberately set on an enclosed back porch that was being used as a bedroom.

As a result of the investigation, Davenport Police arrested 30-year-old Daltyn Matthes and 39-year-old Jetal Womack. Both have been charged with 1st-degree arson.
