DAVENPORT, Iowa — One man is dead and another person is injured after two motorcycles collided with a semi-truck in Davenport on Saturday night, according to a Davenport Police Department news release.
According to police, on Saturday around 5:30 p.m., two motorcyclists were driving eastbound on Rockingham Road at "a high rate of speed," when they struck a semi that was making a left turn from Schmidt Road onto Rockingham Road.
Both motorcyclists were transported to an area hospital to be treated.
One rider sustained serious but non-life-threatening injuries.
The second rider, later identified as 37-year-old Jerald Burmeister of Davenport, died as a result of his injuries.
The incident remains under investigation; no further information is available at this time.
