GULFPORT, Illinois — A 17-year-old boy was struck by an Amtrak and killed Monday in Henderson County.
According to the Illinois State Police (ISP), officials responded to the incident at Lake Stevenson Road just east of Gulfport around 5:30 p.m. on Monday, Feb. 19. The Amtrak was traveling on the tracks when the crash occurred and the incident was not the result of a derailment. The boy, from Burlington, Iowa, was pronounced dead at the scene. No other injuries were reported.
The incident is being investigated by the ISP, Henderson County Sheriff's Office and Henderson County Coroner's Office.
