1 person killed in 3-vehicle accident in LeClaire

The accident occurred around 1:20 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 2, along Great River Road in LeClaire.

LE CLAIRE, Iowa — Update Wednesday, Jan. 3 at 12:43 p.m.: The person who died in Tuesday's accident has been identified as Karen Dugan, 70, of rural Scott County, according to a press release from the Scott County Sheriff's Office.

One person is dead following a crash involving three vehicles in LeClaire, according to a press release.

Shortly before 1:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 2, the Scott County Communications Center received a call notifying them of a crash at 18988 Great River Road. 

According to crash investigators, a 2019 Buick Encore was heading north and slowing down to make a left turn. A 2008 Lexus ES350 allegedly struck the Buick from behind, propelling the vehicle into oncoming traffic. A 2017 Infiniti Q45 traveling southbound then hit the Buick on the passenger side. The Buick's driver was pronounced dead at the scene.

The drivers of the Lexus and Infiniti were both brought to the hospital, but investigators said neither had life-threatening injuries.

The crash is still under investigation, and the victim's name is being withheld while family members are notified.
