LASALLE COUNTY, Ill. — Update: ISP reports the roadway is back open as of 12:30 p.m.
One person is dead after a car versus pedestrian crash on Interstate 80 in LaSalle County on Monday, July 8.
Illinois State Police report the accident took place around 9:20 a.m. near mile marker 71 on I-80 westbound. The location is about two miles west of the exit to Peru.
ISP reports that the pedestrian was pronounced deceased on the scene.
As of shortly before noon, I-80 westbound is closed to traffic. Detours are set for westbound traffic as it has been rerouted to IL 251 and US Route 6.
