These are the IA, IL colleges cancelling in-person class amid coronavirus concerns

Colleges around the country have cancelled in-person classes and have opted to move to online instruction amid fears of the coronavirus.

Illinois

Augustana College -- Spring break is extended to two weeks. No classes will be held at Augie from Saturday, March 14 until Sunday, March 29.  All classes are moving to distance learning through the end of the semester. 

Black Hawk College -- Classes are canceled on Monday, March 16 and Tuesday, March 17. Instruction is moving online from March 18 to the 29th. In-person classes will resume Monday, March 30.

Update: All college facilities are closed to employees and students until April 7, 2020. All employees and students are asked to check their email for an important COVID-19 update.

Bradley University --  Classes will be held online for the remainder of the semester. May commencement is canceled. Click here for more.

Carl Sandburg -- With consideration to and in precaution of the COVID-19 pandemic, all Carl Sandburg College campuses will be closed March 16-22. Starting on March 23, online instruction and social distancing is encouraged.

On-campus Commencement has also been canceled. Pinning ceremonies for this year’s nursing program graduates and all other on-campus events through the remainder of the semester also have been canceled.

Monmouth College, Monmouth -- Classes are canceled from March 16 until March 20. Then the college will swtich to a 'flexible plan' that allows students to choose to study online or attend class. Click here for more.

Monmouth also canceled their Commencement ceremony originally held on May 17. Monmouth College President Clarence R. Wyatt  said in a statement the college is committed to rescheduling the ceremony for a date later in the year.

University of Illlinois -- Students were asked to move home with online instruction beginning March 23. Commencement ceremonies at all campuses are canceled.

Western Illinois University, Macomb & Quad Cities -- All university classes are canceled between March 14 and March 20.  Between March 21 and April 3, classes will be delivered through alternative methods.  Students will be notified.

Western has also canceled their spring commencement ceremonies but says graduates will be able to participate in an event later in the year. Diplomas will be mailed following the close of the semester.

Iowa

Capri College -- Closed until April 13th.

Drake University, Des Moines -- All classes will be delivered remotely to students between March 23 and April 3.  Students are being urged to stay home for the two weeks after spring break. Residents halls and dining services will remain open. Click here for more.

Eastern Iowa Community Colleges -- Due to the COVID-19 (Coronavirus), Eastern Iowa Community Colleges, which includes Clinton, Muscatine and Scott Community Colleges, has announced it will be extending its March 16 – 20 spring break by two days, through March 24. Classes will resume on March 25 in an online format. Face-to-face classes will not be held through April 5.

Grinnell College, Grinnell -- All students will have to leave campus by Monday, March 23 and will finish their semester from home.  The college is preparing for distance learning. Click here for more.

Iowa State University, Ames -- All classes will be moved online from March 23 through April 3. The university will reassess during the week of March 30, and may lengthen the time period if necessary.  Click here for more.

Palmer College of Chiropractic -- Main campus classes and labs are cancelled for Monday and Tuesday, March 16 and 17. Classes and labs will be held online starting March 18.  Instruction will stay online through at least April 3. Click here for more.

St. Ambrose University, Davenport -- Face-to-face classes have been suspended and students will move to distance learning through March 29. Residence halls are closing after 4:30 p.m. March 16. University events scheduled between March 14 and 29 are postponed. Campus operations will remain open.  Click here for more.

University of Iowa, Iowa City -- Face-to-face instruction has been suspended from March 23 through at least April 23. Click here for more.
